What is CoBaseKRM?

CoBaseKRM serves as a centralized repository for organizing knowledge work. Specifically, it seamlessly links various knowledge objects, encompassing data, analyses, and analytical outcomes such as conclusions, SOPs, models, and procedures. Acting as a hybrid platform, it functions as both a data warehouse for structured data and a data lake capable of accommodating files of any format. As a product geared to the needs of scientific and analytical staff, it enables staff to innovate more quickly by instantly finding prior knowledge that can solve new problems. For higher organizational roles, it allows managers to keep and curate intellectual property and organizational knowledge with the assurance that all work producing the knowledge is preserved. CoBaseKRM excels at capturing context by directly associating knowledge objects with narratives and ongoing conversations. This unique feature enhances the overall understanding and accessibility of information within the system. CoBaseKRM revolutionizes knowledge management by treating knowledge objects as assets, a paradigm shift in how such components are traditionally handled. Similar to managing tangible assets, CoBaseKRM emphasizes the importance of identifying knowledge objects, monitoring their performance, and meticulously tracking all changes. This approach ensures traceability and accountability throughout the lifecycle of each knowledge object, marking a significant advancement in effective knowledge asset management. The primary advantages include: EFFICIENT ELIMINATION OF REPETITIVE WORK: CoBaseKRM significantly minimizes the occurrence of duplicated and redundant efforts. This is achieved by empowering engineers, scientists, and business analysts to effortlessly locate and reuse previous knowledge objects, encompassing both data and analyses. This streamlined process not only conserves valuable time and resources but also promotes a more efficient workflow. COMPREHENSIVE DOCUMENTATION OF KNOWLEDGE WORK: The platform comprehensively records all facets of knowledge work, offering an invaluable contextual foundation for individuals referencing past projects. By ensuring thorough documentation, CoBaseKRM enhances reproducibility, contributing to a transparent and reliable knowledge-sharing environment.

What is the difference between CoBaseKRM and an Electronic Lab Notebooks?

NARRATIVE VS. DATA FOCUS: ELNs typically prioritize narratives, allowing users to take notes and attach files. In contrast, CoBaseKRM is inherently data-centric without losing any of the narrative. REAL-TIME JOURNAL ENTRIES: CoBaseKRM addresses the issue of delayed journal entries commonly observed in ELNs. It simplifies the real-time capture of journal entries, complete with tagging and attachments, all timestamped and attributed to specific users. GRANULARITY IN DATA ATTACHMENT: Unlike ELNs, CoBaseKRM offers enhanced granularity by enabling the attachment of "Journal Cards" to individual observations, analyses, models, SOPs, and other knowledge products. This approach enhances search, precision and organization in data management. CAPTURE AND INTERCONNECT EXPERT EXCHANGES: CoBaseKRM facilitates the capture and tracking of exchanges among subject matter experts, interconnecting these interactions with Journal cards, a feature set to be introduced in Q1/24. SEARCH FUNCTIONALITY FOR JOURNAL CARDS: CoBaseKRM provides robust search capabilities for Journal Cards, allowing users to search by user, date, parameters, and other criteria. This functionality, slated for Q1/24, enhances the accessibility of relevant information. CHRONOLOGICAL REPORTING: Users can search Journal Cards by user in chronological order, resembling a conventional ELN report. Each entry is just a single click away from the associated knowledge objects, providing a seamless and intuitive user experience. FLEXIBILITY AND EFFICIENCY: CoBaseKRM distinguishes itself through its flexibility. For instance, changing parameter names is a swift process, with the system tracking and making all previous entries searchable under the new names. This flexibility ensures agility and adaptability to evolving needs.

How does CoBaseKRM compare to systems like SharePoint and Teams?

CoBaseKRM stands out by offering a framework absent in central file storage systems. Unlike general-purpose systems, it effortlessly interconnects crucial elements—data, analysis, results, narratives, and conversations—essential for contextual knowledge maintenance. Companies issuing directives on general systems often experience short-lived efforts, underscoring the necessity for a facilitating framework. CoBaseKRM simplifies the process, providing clear direction for users on their specific tasks.

Is CoBaseKRM suitable for both large corporations and start-ups?

Yes, CoBaseKRM scales from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. Knowledge management is essential for enterprises involved in science and analytics. Start-ups, in particular, benefit as they seek investment, with CoBaseKRM showcasing captured, interconnected, and comprehensive knowledge, securing investor confidence. Pricing starts at $7500/year for start-ups, and CoBaseKRM grows with your research and operations.

We already have a data warehouse and/or data lake and/or ELN. Should we expect to replace these systems?

Not necessarily. Instead, think of integrating CoBaseKRM with existing systems.

What sources of data can CoBaseKRM accommodate?

CoBaseKRM can handle a wide range of data sources, including various file types like Microsoft Excel, CSVs, XML, and JMP files. Automatically import files generated by equipment and instruments. About KRM

What does the name “CoBaseKRM” mean?

There are 3 parts to the name. The “Co” is short for words like “connect,” “contain,” “collaborate” and “communicate.” The “Base” refers to it being a database. KRM is short for “knowledge relationship management,” maintaining the relationship among knowledge assets: observations, files, analyses and models and other products of analysis.

How did CoBaseKRM come about?

In our consulting and training services, we frequently encountered scenarios where locating past work proved challenging. Even when found, the application and reproducibility of this work were often hindered. Many initiatives to preserve previous efforts were abandoned, or the recorded entries lacked essential details for effective reproduction. Consequently, analysts found themselves compelled to initiate projects anew. This replication of effort not only hampers progress toward business objectives but also incurs avoidable expenses, essentially compelling organizations to repeatedly invest in endeavors for which they've already paid.

Who uses CoBaseKRM?

CoBaseKRM caters to a diverse range of organizations engaged in analysis, spanning everyday problem-solving, continuous improvement initiatives, and core research and development. Presently, the platform is actively employed across various industries, with notable applications in biotech/pharma, chemical (formulations and compounding), and semiconductor sectors. However, its versatility extends to any domain where analysis is a key component, including recent instances in marketing analytics. The pivotal advantage of CoBaseKRM lies in its ability to streamline the organization of data, analyses, and results. By ensuring easy accessibility, the platform accelerates problem-solving, facilitates the generation of insights, and expedites the realization of improvements.
