What does the name "CoBaseKRM" mean?
Our brand name, “CoBaseKRM,” can be broken into three parts that tell our story. “Co” stands for connection, communication, and collaboration. Unmistakable ingredients in every successful science and engineering initiative. The suffix, “Base,” refers to a repository of useful information. You may have heard about knowledge bases. They store important documents, product information, or customer information in an accessible, one-stop-shop location. No such “base” existed for the projects, data, and knowledge produced in science and engineering research and development. Well... until now that is! And at last, “KRM.” We’re a team of engineers and developers by trade. So, it might shock you to learn we did NOT model our software on complex systems or arcane methodologies. Actually, we found inspiration from sales and marketing. KRM stands for “Knowledge Relationship Management.” It is to science and engineering what Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is to sales and marketing. A way to store knowledge as a trackable asset with rich context and metadata. KRM is the practice of fully capturing the data, analyses, context, insights and – yes – knowledge generated by technical staff such that innovations made on day 1 can be found, understood, reproduced, and reused on day 100, day 1000, or even day one million. To actualize this new way of working, we built a platform that puts engineers, scientists, and analysts in full control of how they conduct their research, collaborate, and manage their knowledge at virtually every project step. It’s called “CoBaseKRM,” and it’s the new way that science and engineering work will get done.

Security and Support
Security and Support
Is my data secure?
CoBaseKRM is a cloud-based SaaS application, deployed on Microsoft Azure. As such, your data is secure on an encrypted server, accessible from anywhere you log in and work. We enforce strict privacy policies in our team. Only designated development staff have access to your cloud for maintenance purposes and software updates. Additionally, your data is encrypted and is not viewable by our developers. We maintain specific policies and controls so no one person has access to your data. Microsoft Azure also does not have access to your data, following their security policies. For enterprise deployments, security depends on your company's IT security policies. CoBaseKRM is deployed as a docker container to be easily managed by your IT department for deployment. CoBaseKRM is licensed and will not have an outside connection other than your own personal infrastructure. However, if you want to upgrade your local version of CoBaseKRM on your internet infrastructure, you will need a CoBaseKRM Service License, which provides a secure connection for future updates.

Can CoBaseKRM be integrated with LIMS and ELNs?
Yes, if the LIMS or ELN has an API of its own or is based on open-source software. CoBaseKRM offers its own API for integrations with third-party systems.
